Turtle Gymnastics |

Summer is in full swing. Mom and I are going to Nana
and Pop’s lake house every weekend. The splash game is back on (see last
summer’s post). Best of all, there are lots of creatures in the back yard.
Not too fond of those frogs that squirt at me and make my mouth foam
though. The lizards are plentiful, the other morning there were three
crawling up the screen on the back porch and all had lost their tails
(Thanks to me!). |
| We did have an exciting larger visitor, no snake (yet) like last summer, but a turtle from the pond behind our house. He somehow managed to crawl under the fence. |

I chased him from one end of the yard to the other. Every time
I grabbed at his funky flipper feet he would hide in his shell.
I became very frustrated because he kept hiding from me. Mom
heard me fussing and came outside. She told me to leave our
little visitor alone and held me back; he then stuck his head and
feet outside his shell and started launching himself at the fence.
The pickets on the fence wouldn’t allow him out but he kept throwing
himself at the fence until one of the pickets broke and he escaped. |
| Mom isn’t too happy about having to repair
the fence but I sure enjoyed it, especially the turtle gymnastics. |
